Atlantic Slam Moncton Basketball Association Coaches Clinic Saturday September 7, 2024 Crandall University

The second annual Atlantic Slam and Moncton Basketball Association Coaches Clinic will take place on Saturday, September 7, 2024, as a one-day speaker series. We aim to attract coaches from grassroots to high-performance basketball.

Hosted at Crandall University, attendees will have the opportunity to learn from leading experts. Our distinguished speakers will cover a range of topics, offering insights into skill development, strategic gameplay, sport psychology, and team dynamics.

Rick is a four-time AUS coach of the year and the 2019-20 U SPORTS Coach of the Year. He has led the Dalhousie Tigers to seven AUS championship titles and a program-best silver medal finish at the 2019-20 U SPORTS championship

James Holland

Former Head Coach, Western Michigan
James is a former NCAA coach at Western Michigan University and currentSenior Associate Commissioner for the Big South Conference. Holland’s has leaguechampionships as an assistant coach in four different conferences. James also served as theScout for the NBA’s Washington Wizards.

Dr. David Scott, Ph.D.
Presentation entitled:
A Mental Skills Toolbox for Coaches
Dr. Scott is a renowned expert in sport psychology. He is a consultant with anumber of teams and organizations including, the Montreal Canadians, Vancouver Canucks, thePhiladelphia Flyers, and the Florida Panthers. Dr Scott will do an off-court presentation on AMental Skills Toolbox for Coaches.

Beth Detienne, M. Ed
Assistant Coach Acadia University Women's Basketball
Presentation entitled:
Team Culture
Beth is a long-time assistant coach at Acadia University, former Canada Games coach and CIS athlete. Her research is in leadership and team dynamics and she will do an off-court presentation on Team Culture.
